Understanding Discipleship
Discipleship is a transformative process that emphasizes following and learning from a leader, our leader is Jesus Christ.
It involves a commitment to grow in faith, understanding, and practice, often modeled after the teachings of our Lord.
At its core, discipleship is about building a personal relationship with our savior while also engaging in a community of believers. This journey typically includes studying sacred texts, participating in group discussions, and serving others. In many cases, it encourages individuals to reflect on their values and behavior, fostering spiritual growth and spiritual maturity. True discipleship requires dedication, humility, and a willingness to challenge and discipline oneself. It’s not merely about acquiring knowledge but about applying lessons learned in everyday life, thus embodying the principles of kindness, compassion, and integrity. Whether through formal church programs or informal gatherings, the path of discipleship is one of continual learning and transformation, aimed at strengthening both individual faith and the wider community.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
